. NO planes are allowed to land in  Salvador during games? Well, a group of Dutch fans found that out the hard way last week. Their flight from the United States last Friday was late but they thought they would still be able to join in the celebrations – and what celebrations!! 5×1 Spain!!!!) after their opening match. Not that simple. As they prepared to touch down, the pilot pulled up from the tarmac and land them  an hour later in Aracaju, 100 miles from their destination!!! At least that is what is published on The Times today.  I mean : not even the pilots are informed of those so important – although ridiculous – changes?!?!

. Lionel Messi left a young boy very distressed? Watch this

. There are so many Argentinians in  Brazil that a commentator wrote in his column: “Copabana has been already taken; Let’s see if we can defend Ipanema”

I found the short film of Messi missing the kid’s handshake rather sad. Being of a generous nature, I guess I’d like to think that it was a simple mistake on Messi’s part and that he genuinely didn’t see the child. However, I suspect I’m being a bit too generous there – how did he NOT see him?!! His eyesight is good enough to spot all those goal scoring opportunities after all!!! I think that, had it been Neymar, he’d have seen the kid and shaken his hand as would Federer or Nadal in tennis. Ayrton Senna of course always found time for children – treated them with respect.

Seeing this (video of Messi & the child) got me thinking back to when I was this kid’s apparent age. I was watching the famous Brasil side that won the World Cup in 1970. Who would I have wanted to shake hands with? Only one answer there – Pele of course! STILL the greatest ever.
