RIO2016: COMMITTEE EXCITED ABOUT GOLF LEGACY
Grass started to be planted yesterday at hole 8, out of 18 of course, in what it will be the Golf Course in Barra da Tijuca for the Games in 2016. More importantly, it is considered one of the biggest legacy of Rio2016 as it will become the first public golf course in the city (it might be in the country!?!?) . The timeline for grass growth is 11 months. So it looks as if that is going quite well.
“We have taken another important step in constructing the Olympic Golf Course today. The planting of grass is the last construction activity for each hole on the course, following the completion of the earthworks, irrigation and finishing,” explained Agberto Guimarães, Rio 2016 Director of Sport and Paralympic Integration.
