F1 – Will they really lose audience/fans? Briatore comments made me laugh

Reading Flavio Briatore’s comments about the Australian GP in the Corriere dello Sport, brought tears to my eyes. Of laughter of course. That’s why:

1. Because Briatore has always made me laugh

2. Why do journalists still think just because these people are there , they have to ask them something?

3. He says : “Forcing drivers to drive more slowly is a great contradiction. It would be like revolutionising football by establishing the rule that athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo can not touch the ball more than 10 times a game,”. Really?? If I had said that, people would say it was woman’s talk ( not in public, obviously, as we live in a politically correct world now)

4. And he adds: “The Australian Grand Prix did not please anyone. This F-1 changed very quickly, with little testing. The result is that after 10 laps we had world champions such as Vettel and Hamilton out of the race. This can not happen. It was depressing, “said Briatore. Was it? Tell that to Nico Rosberg who is actually driving the best car at the moment. World champions have retired in the first race of the year, many , many times before. and is not even the first time F1 change the rules drastically and quickly.

It all sounds like sour grapes to me. Pity as Briatore used to be very entertaining.

And, anyway, does anyone honestly think Formula 1 will lose one single viewer?

Aqui as razões :

1 . Briatore sempre me fez rir.

Perhaps some, but no more so than previous changes have caused – when TV rights on the UK went from the BBC to Sky, many said they’d no longer watch. Sky’s offering is great, and others have since come back/discovered F1 because of it. It’s Bernie’s equivalent to Darwin – the natural selection of racing! I still love it, travel the world to watch it, and feel my spine tingle when the lights go out!

Stopped watching F1 last year (after 28 years of being a fan) could no longer watch all races live and highlights do not give you feel of race so lost intrest now watch btcc and wtcc instead, think the paywall is biggest reason for loss of hardcore fans like I used to be, this year have missed 90% of F1 races.
