Politician Romario is very critical of World Cup Organisation and Ronaldo

The former footballer Romario, now a Congressman, continuos to criticise the World Cup Organisation in Brasil.  On Tuesday,  during a public hearing in the House of Deputies in Brasilia Romario said that  the suspected diversion and overpricing in the World Cup stadiums are public money thrown away.  “We have to hope that Brazil is champion on the pitch because out of it Brazil has already lost and was thrashed.”

He did not hold his tongue back when he commented the report published in the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo this Sunday (16), which wrote that the TC-DF (Court of the Federal District) reported suspected overpricing of at least R$ 431 million (£4 = RS$1) in Mane Garrincha stadium. “This is most definitely a proof that the World Cup would have to exist, will exist, but need not spend so much,” said Romario commenting. According to the control unit, the works of the arena and its surroundings are already worth R$ 1.9 billion.

ROMARIO X RONALDO

The discussion between Romario and Ronaldo began when the federal (PSB-RJ) Deputy published on Friday, a photo on instagram alongside Ronaldo, stating that it had been taken in 2011 when Ronaldo “publicly promised” tickets to people with disabilities – commitment that has not been fulfilled.

According to him, the transfer of 32 000 entries have been agreed during a meeting with members of the LOC (Local Organizing Committee of the World Cup), in which he was present and former players Ronaldo and Bebeto.

In other words, Romario is just as combative as a politician as he was as a footballer.
